Dr. Navanthi Ratnayake

Dr Ratnayake is a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist working in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust in London. She is also an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, St George’s University Grenada.

Dr Ratnayake qualified with a medical degree from the University of Southampton. She started her Psychiatry training in the Charing Cross core training programme and continued her training in New Zealand. She completed her Core Psychiatric training in the prestigious Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust gaining membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in October 2013. She completed her specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry at University College London and Partners training scheme at Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust.

She obtained a post graduate certificate in Medical Leadership with Distinction in 2019 and is the operational lead in Haringey.

Dr Ratnayake’s training and experience enabled her to become very highly skilled in the assessment and management a wide range of complex and severe mental health conditions including treatment resistant conditions. She is passionate about delivering high quality care that is safe, with positive clinical outcomes and most importantly, excellent patient experience. She has a passion to deliver evidence based patient centred care. She has been nominated for awards that recognise clinicians committed to driving high standards.

Dr Ratnayake has an interest in teaching and is an educational and clinical supervisor to trainees in psychiatry. She teaches medical students at University College London (UCL) and is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, St George’s University Grenada.

She also has an interest in research and has been a part of different research activities which has led to publication.

Dr Ratnayake has a keen interest in novel evidence based treatment modalities, such as TMS and Esketamine Nasal Spray that are used in the treatment of some treatment resistant mental health conditions.
