Dr. Micheal Kurkar

Dr Kurkar established the first NHS TMS service in the North West of England and is the Clinical Lead of the Pennine Care TMS service. He is actively involved in TMS clinical research and is the Oldham Principal Investigator for the BRIGhTMIND TMS Randomised Control Trial (RCT).

Dr Kurkar works is experienced in managing and treating a with a wide range of mental health disorders, including but not limited to, depression, Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD), bipolar affective disorder, Adult ADHD, anxiety and psychosis.

Dr Kurkar has a specialist interest in the fields of Liaison psychiatry (the link between mental and physical health conditions) and Pain Medicine. He works with patients who suffer from mental health conditions related to severe and chronic physical health conditions which frequently co-exist and or exacerbate chronic pain.

Dr Kurkar specialised in Perinatal Psychiatry. He treats mental health conditions during pregnancy and in the postnatal period such as postnatal depression and puerperal psychosis. He also offers preconception consultations for women with mental health conditions who want to plan their pregnancies.
