Having a mental illness or struggling with psychological difficulties does not mean that you are weak.

In other words, having a mental illness is not a sign of psychological weakness.

However, it is important to understand that having psychological resilience would enable a person to deal better with mental illness.

This is why it is important for all of us to build up our psychological resilience and adopt healthy mental processes and behaviours.

Although this might not fully protect us against developing a mental illness it should lead to a more favourable outcome if we face psychological adversities or struggle with mental illness.

Please remember that no one is immune against mental illness and that 1 in 4 people will be affected with a mental disorder during their lifetime.

Because of this and for many other reasons we should be kind to ourselves, our families, our friends, our colleagues and everyone we know.

We should aim to make our social circles a safe place for people to speak about their psychological difficulties and that we support them and if we cannot support them, we should encourage them to seek professional help.
